D-Lab visit Architectural Association

We were kindly invited to the AA's new Digital Prototyping Lab yesterday to take a look at their setup and get some advice on machines, maintenance, and see what their students have been making. The space is really well designed with lots of assembly space and dedicated robotics, metalwork, woodwork, and laser cutting areas. Here are a few pics of the workshop.

The robotics lab features two huge Kuka robots. The team are machining their own attachments for hot wire cutting (pictured) and ceramic 3D Printing.

As you'd expect at an architectural school - the CNC is really popular and behind David and I are checking out the Roland MDX mills - this is a larger version of the MDX-450 that we'll be getting for the new Stratford site.

There's a lot more to see and they are running public workshops throughout the year so take a look at their site to keep updated: https://dpl.aaschool.ac.uk/workshop/
