How much is membership?

Membership is £25 a month which gives you access to the space during our opening hours. There is a joining fee of £30 which covers a health and safety induction. You will also need to attend a group induction for the laser cutter and CNC router. Once you are inducted you can use the space unsupervised but there are usually volunteers around to help out.

Can I park at the space?

Not at the moment but we are in discussion with the council to make changes to the lease. You can drop off materials at the lab but then you must park down the road.

How do I join?

Get in touch via the form above or visit during one of our open workshop evenings where you can view the space and meet some of our volunteers. Then you'll need to sign up as either a community or maker member and attend your workshop induction.

Can I cancel my membership?

If you need to cancel please contact us at or via our slack channel. Please note that you can only cancel and rejoin once a year unless under special circumstances.

Do I have to tidy up?

Yes you must keep the space clean and tidy at all times. People who leave a mess will have their memberships revoked.

Is the space child friendly?

Sorry, under 16's can only visit the lab during our community workshops or for an organised event.

Who runs the space?

The maker space is run by a team of volunteers and residents. All profits from membership go directly back into the space to ensure all machines are maintained and so we can invest in new tools and equipment.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your own face masks and protective eye equipment. You are responsible for your own health and safety while in the space including equipment.

Share your skills with your local community.

Help up-skill your local community by running a workshop at D-Lab. It could be in any area that interests you and for any age group. Previous workshops have included electronics, hacking, woodwork, minecraft, and e-textiles.

You can choose to run the workshop as a profit share, for free or in exchange for machine time. We'll sort out the marketing and sales for you and support you in delivering the workshop.
